Ah, the end of Summer...

(or at least the end of the summer holidays) is in sight.

It seems that for the last 6 weeks every child within a 3 mile radius has been camped outside my front gate armed with fishing nets. Apparently they're trying to catch the butterflies that land on my buddleia (sp!).

The temptation to run the hosepipe through the house and blast them from an upstairs window has been almost overwhelming...

Hmmm... listing or blogging....

... a tough choice there :) Especially as listing at the moment involves manually altering all 300-odd ebay listings to include the 'free' postage malarky. OK, I know I could do them a lot quicker with some of the automated tools, but some idiot (uh, that would be me) mentioned the P&P price in the actual description... yes, with hindsight, that was a stupid idea! Still, gives me a chance to go through and update some descriptions and drop some prices... (trying to look on the bright side....)

Other than that, sales are going well and fairly steady, so we'll just have to see what happens over the next few weeks....

I had my first physio appointment last Friday, and have had 2 more since... so far only one session has been really painful (!) and last time they gave me acupuncture, which really seems to have helped. I never realised that they offered such a wide range of treatments. It's at our local hospital, which has been in danger of closing over the last couple of years due to the health service cutbacks... it would be a terrible shame to lose it, so I'll be jumping on the bandwagon for any future campaigns to save it!!

I've been allowed back to work now for my 1 day a week... as long as I don't bend, lift, stretch, or spend longer than 15 minutes at a computer without changing position... ideal for computer-operating bookshop staff!

Met a lovely lady from Switzerland in the shop last week, she is also just starting on the Wiccan path as a solitary practitioner and is looking for other people who are interested... we got talking and have swapped email addresses, plus passed on a couple of my favourite blogs by likeminded friends. You meet wonderful people in Hay!!

OH is enjoying living in town, although he managed to fall over after open mic night last Tuesday and now has 6 pretty blue stitches in the back of his head... Bizarrely he didn't notice until he went into work on Wednesday and a friend looked at the 'bump'... how he missed the small pool of blood I have no idea!! Luckily he's fine, and the headache was probably due as much to the hangover as the dent!

So, here's hoping next week involves less hospital visits....

I can't believe it's been 5 months...

... since my last post! That's bad even by my standards...

Hmmm, where to start? Well, the back's still a problem (physio next week hopefully)... been informed the treatment can really hurt, so not looking forward to that in a big way. Although the codeine pills are fun...

Had a lovely holiday at my friends house in Kent, absolutely gorgeous area and very relaxing. Visited Pluckley (most haunted village in England) while we were there, and had the most amazing meal in the local pub there - the owner had run out of steak mince for the burgers, so she popped out to the butchers for some more for us, now that's fresh food!! Highly recommended if you're in the area, lovely people, fab food and a gorgeous boxer dog :)

Ebay has been more or less abandoned due to the back problems, but is still ticking over. Unfortunately they have now decided to impose compulsory 'free P&P' on book listings, so how that will affect business I don't know. They seem to be making life harder for any but the largest scale sellers, and it'll be a looooong time before I'm in their league. There's no way that I can absorb postage costs as a small-volume seller...

... and unfortunately the ebay income is looking more important than ever at the mo. It's a long and boring story, but to give you the Reader's Digest version, OH and I are currently living apart. We're still together (no breaks, be it Rachel or Rosses version...) but just living seperately while we try and sort some stuff out. So, 2 households on 1 income means the ebay money may stand between me and eating dust-bunnies...
